In 2021, the Little Miami Watershed Network partnered with The Ohio State University to better understand just how much the river means to our region. The results were remarkable: more than 836,000 visits generated nearly $15 million in local economic impact. That research gave us powerful, credible data to demonstrate why protecting the river matters. To see the study done 5 years ago visit the link in our website under the News tab or click here
Now, in 2026, we (LMWN and OSU) are doing it again — and we’d love for you to be part of it. Volunteer Specialists will help us gather simple but critical data at river access points by counting cars and placing a survey flyer with a QR code on windshields. There are no clipboards and no interrupting visitors — just a straightforward, efficient process that makes a big difference. Volunteers are needed for various times throughout the months of April to October.
